Monument to Alyosha is the tallest monument above the Arctic Circle, the Memorial to the Defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War. The soldier's gaze is directed westward, toward the Valley of Glory, where the fiercest battles took place on the approaches to Murmansk during the Great Patriotic War.
